    Brooklyn Bridge Park
    Pier 6 entrance

Saturday, this late Ovenbird was foraging at the Pier 6 entrance to the park just a foot from me. A magical start to a chilly morning of birding resulting in sightings of 26 species, including Gray Catbird, Field Sparrow, and Northern Flicker!

    Yellow-rumped Warbler
    Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 3

This Yellow-rumped Warbler was singing while foraging close to me on Pier 3…in December! Usually warblers only sing during spring and summer when they are courting females or defending nesting areas, so it was very special to hear its song while I was braving the low 30s. Definitely the best cold-weather entertainment!
