Hi, I’m Heather! Thanks for visiting me here. I was born in San Rafael, California and attended UCLA where I earned a degree in Sociology. Then I ran away with the circus — Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey, to be exact — and played bass guitar in the circus band for six years. To ease the transition back into the real world, I attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I obtained a Master’s in Information Science.

I fell in love with birds while living on Florida’s Gulf Coast and observing everything from least terns and black skimmers to barn owls and common nighthawks.

I currently live in Brooklyn where I work as a web developer and give bird walks & tours, presentations, and classes in English and Spanish.
